Privacy Policy
Highlighted [Tee to confirm] notes mark a choice that is Tee's to make. Everything else is written to match what the site, the bookings and the Egypt page already say. Have it checked by a lawyer before it goes live.
Shamanic Dreaming (Teane Kenny, trading as Shamanic Dreaming, New South Wales, Australia) respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, how we look after it, and how you can ask about it. Because our work can involve information about your health and wellbeing, we handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988.
What we collect
- Enquiries, waitlists and contact forms: what you type in, usually your name, email address and any phone number, country, message or preferences you add.
- Sessions and reports: your name, email, phone number and address, plus the details Tee needs for the work itself, such as a date, time and place of birth for a report, or a child's details for children's services.
- Shop orders: your order, delivery and payment details. Card numbers are handled by the payment provider and are never stored by Shamanic Dreaming.
- Retreats: the details needed to book and care for you on the journey, including passport and travel-insurance details, emergency contacts, dietary needs and health or mobility information you choose to share.
- Website use: cookies and similar technology record how the site is used (see Cookies and analytics below).
Health and other sensitive information
In sessions, intake forms and retreat bookings you may tell us about your physical, emotional or mental health, your spiritual beliefs, or other personal experiences. This is sensitive information. We only collect it with your consent and only when it is needed to provide the session, report or retreat you asked for. We keep it confidential and store it securely. It is held on our behalf by the service providers listed below, and we only disclose it to anyone else where you ask us to, where it is needed for your safety on a retreat (for example with a guide, hotel or medical service in an emergency), or where the law requires it.
Information about other people
For a Soul Contract Report you give us another person's details. Please only do so if they are happy for you to share them, and let them know you have, pointing them to this policy. We use those details only to prepare your report. We won't contact that person unless they contact us or the law requires it, and they can ask us to see or delete their details at any time. For children's services, see Children below.
What you must give us
For a booking, order or report we need your name and contact details, plus the details the service itself needs (for example a birth date for a report, or passport and insurance details for a retreat). Without them we can't provide that service. Everything else, such as a message or preferences, is optional.
How we use it
- To reply to you, and to deliver the session, report, order or retreat you asked for.
- To manage bookings, payments, invoices, shipping and retreat logistics.
- To send you news about retreats or services, only if you have joined our list or asked to hear about them (see Emails from us).
- To understand how the website is used so we can improve it.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for anything unrelated to what you asked for.
Who handles it for us
We use these providers, who handle information on our behalf:
- Wix (website, forms, bookings, shop and email): stores information in the United States and other countries where its data centres are [Tee to confirm against Wix's current privacy policy].
- Stripe or Wix Payments (online payments): United States [Tee to confirm against the provider's privacy policy, which lists any other countries].
- Australia Post (shop deliveries): Australia, and the destination country for international parcels.
- Our Egyptian tour operator, hotels and guides (retreat guests only): Egypt. We send them only what they need to arrange your travel and care for you, such as your name, passport details, rooming, dietary needs and, if you agree, relevant health information.
- Google (website analytics), only if analytics is switched on and you have agreed to it: United States.
Before sending information overseas we take reasonable steps to make sure the recipient protects it, and we only send what is needed.
Cookies and analytics
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. Our site runs on Wix. Essential and functional cookies are always on, because the site needs them to work: they keep your shopping cart, keep checkout secure and remember your cookie choice.
Analytics cookies, which count visits and show which pages are used, run only if you choose "Accept all" in the cookie banner. They include Wix's own site statistics and, if we switch it on, Google Analytics. Analytics tools collect information such as an online identifier, your device and browser, approximate location and the pages you visit; we use it in aggregate to understand how the site is used. We don't use advertising cookies.
You can change your choice at any time from "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page, and you can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
Emails from us
We only send newsletters or marketing emails if you have signed up or asked to hear about a retreat or service. Every marketing email says who it is from and includes an unsubscribe link, and we act on an unsubscribe within five working days. We keep a record of when you signed up. Emails about an order, booking or retreat you have made are part of providing that service.
Keeping it safe
We keep personal information on secure, password-protected systems and limit access to the people who need it. We keep records only as long as they are needed for the purposes above and for our legal obligations, then delete or de-identify them. [Tee and lawyer to confirm: session notes and other health information are kept for 7 years after the last session, or for a child until they turn 25, in line with NSW health-records rules; financial records for 5 years for tax.]
Seeing, correcting or deleting your information
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, have it corrected, have it deleted, or stop us contacting you, by emailing info@shamanicdreaming.com. We respond within 30 days. If there's a lawful reason we must keep something, such as a health record we are required to keep or a tax record, we'll tell you.
Guests in the UK and European Union
If you are in the UK or EU and book a retreat or service with us, you also have rights under the UK GDPR or GDPR: to access, correct or delete your information, to restrict or object to its use, to receive a copy of it, and to complain to your local data protection authority. We rely on our contract with you to provide what you booked, on your explicit consent for health information, and on your consent for marketing emails, which you can withdraw at any time. We respond to requests within one month. [Lawyer to confirm whether GDPR applies and what else is needed.]
Client confidentiality, anonymity & shared experiences
At Shamanic Dreaming, I deeply respect the privacy, trust and personal experiences of every individual who works with me.
All personal information shared during healing sessions, readings, regressions and consultations is treated with care and confidentiality.
From time to time, I may share general insights, themes or anonymised experiences from my work to help others better understand the healing process, spiritual development and personal transformation.
When sharing these experiences:
- Personal names and identifying information are not disclosed.
- Details that could reasonably identify an individual are removed or altered.
- Specific client stories or testimonials are shared only with the client's permission.
- Sensitive personal experiences are never intentionally disclosed without consent.
My intention in sharing these experiences is always to educate, inspire and support others while respecting the privacy and dignity of those who place their trust in me.
Where I ask for your permission to share an individual story, that consent is optional, can be withdrawn for any future sharing by emailing info@shamanicdreaming.com, and never affects your access to any session, report or retreat.
Children
Children's services are booked by a parent or legal guardian. We ask the adult to confirm they are the child's parent or legal guardian, and they consent on behalf of a child who can't yet decide for themselves. A young person who understands what is involved, generally from about 15, can make their own privacy decisions: we ask for their consent as well, and they can ask to see or correct their own information. Tee holds a Working With Children Check and National Police Check.
Questions and complaints
If you have a question or concern about privacy, email info@shamanicdreaming.com and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
